For a modern haircut in 2012, it is recommended to shave the sides of the head down to a length of about 4 by means of a professional electric hair clipper, and to leave the top hair a little bit longer, about 6 cm. The transition from the sides to the top hair should by all means be cut with a gradient, in order to achieve a flowing transition which does not appear to roughly cut. With this short hairstyle for men, it is possible to primp the longer hair up with a very strong styling gel; or one could use some modeling crème in order to primp the hair into a forward direction, or to create an out-of-the-bed or a frizzy look.
